SP Group acquires UK scaffold merchant Gilray Plant

Post-acquisition, SP Group is forecast to increase its operational capabilities.

SP Group, a supplier of temporary protection products for the construction industry, has acquired assets from scaffold merchant Gilray Plant.

The merged company will operate under the new name SP Gilray following the acquisition.

Through this merger, SP Group is poised to increase its operational capabilities while preserving the legacy and business ethos of Gilray Plant under the SP Gilray brand.

Gilray Plant, established in 1970 and located in Erith, Kent, has been a known source of scaffolding supplies and equipment.

The investment signifies a major expansion for SP Group, which has been active in the UK and Irish markets for more than three decades.

With the acquisition of Gilray Plant, SP Group now also has a presence in south-east England, specifically in Erith.

The rebranding process to SP Gilray will commence shortly, with updates such as a new website and logo to be introduced for customers and partners.

Both entities have communicated that the acquisition aims to elevate the business, broaden the product portfolio, and maintain the high level of customer service associated with Gilray.

SP Group managing director Nick Munster said: “It’s a significant milestone for us. Gilray is well-known within the scaffold supplies sector and the UK construction industry. This opportunity will allow us to welcome a broader range of clients, from independent contractors to large international scaffolding firms.”

SP Group intends to further its growth by collaborating with other accredited companies in the sector to fortify its market position, pool resources, and enhance its industry influence.

SP Group offers a range of products, including debris netting, scaffold accessories, fire extinguishers, dust containment solutions, surface protection materials, and personal protective equipment.
